Money can be pretty scarce if you are a college student. Tuition and fees can be pretty high. Most of the students use financial aid to take care of those things which explains such high levels of average student debt. Adding to their debt troubles, many students take out additional loans in order to get a refund check for spending money. They also may ask their parents for money.

What if I told you there were some things that any college student could do to make money independently? In today's post, I want to share with you five different things that any college student can do to earn money. Keep reading to find out what they are.

Sell Old Clothing

The first thing that any college student can do is sell their old clothing. People's styles may change in college. They may start dressing differently and gave a lot of items that they are not wearing anymore. Instead of throwing those clothes away, you can sell them. There are a few ways that you can sell them. One place that you can sell them is on eBay. EBay is one of the largest online marketplaces in the world. People will buy all types of things on that website. Your clothes could be the next thing to sell. You can also take your clothes to Plato's Closet. Plato's Closet is a store that buys and sells gently used clothing. As long as your clothes are in good condition, you may be able to get some money from them. If there is one near you college, it will not hurt to check it out.

Become a Virtual Assistant

A lot of people need help with their businesses these days. Instead of paying money to hire employees, some folks are getting virtual assistants (VA's for short). VA's can help do a lot of jobs or task for a person or company. They can prepare slide shows, book hotel rooms, and flights, organize client databases, review emails and operate social media accounts. A virtual assistant position may be ideal for a college student because they can do the work in between their classes. The student doesn't have to worry about it being a full-time gig. They will work as they are needed.

Part-Time Job

One of the easiest ways for a student to make money as a college student is to find a part-time job. I had several jobs when I was in college. I worked on campus for a few months. I worked in retail, and I worked in a restaurant. Working those different jobs allowed me to have some money coming in. It was awesome as a college student. Because of those part-time jobs, I never really experienced being a broke college student. Depending on where you go to school at, I'm sure there are a few places around town that are looking to hire college students.

Drive with Uber

If you have a reliable car, you can consider driving for Uber. Uber has changed the transportation industry. In the past, people had to take public transportation or get a taxi cab if they didn't have a car or want to drive. Now, all they have to do is pull up the Uber app and select their starting and ending locations. If you love to drive, this could be easy money for you. You set your own schedule, and you also get paid weekly. That is perfect for anyone including college students. From what I hear, Uber drivers make pretty good money. A friend of mine made about $500 driving only 30 hours when she used to work for Uber.

Sell Old Books

The next item on the list is to sell your old books. Each semester you have to pay hundreds of dollars for books. At the end of the semester bookstores will buy most of your books back, but for only at a fraction of the price. Only getting a little bit of money back for books you spent hundreds on is not okay at all. A way to get more money for those textbooks is to sell them online. Half.com which is company owned by eBay is a good place to start. You will typically get a great price for your books there. You can also sell them on Amazon.

As you just read, students don't have to be broke in college. They just have to be a little resourceful. There is money out there for them. Selling your old clothing, becoming a VA, getting a part-time job, driving with Uber and selling your old textbooks are just a few ways that you can make money.
