College can be an expensive place to learn, but it’s an essential pit stop for many students with career aspirations. With that being said, many students are forced to find financial aid if they’re going to pay for tuition. This often leads people to take out student loans during college which contributes to the glaring problem that is student debt today.

However, student loans aren’t the only option for students who need financial aid. Scholarships are an extremely useful option to those who need to pay for higher education. The scholarship industry represents billions in free funding, and they are certainly more preferable than student loans.

Scholarship opportunities are an enormous help to careers that typically struggle with student loan debt. One such career path is the creative arts. Unlike a typical STEM career, the career earnings from a creative arts degree can vary widely, and unfortunately, they carry a reputation for low earnings relative to the student debt acquired during education.

With that in mind, a creative arts scholarship is an especially useful tool for anyone in the creative arts field. If you are considering a creative arts major, then you may want to go to a school that is known for the arts as well as its scholarship opportunities. The Student Loan Report wanted to highlight schools such as this.

On that note, The Student Loan Report decided to rank the private and public colleges in the United States according to total creative arts scholarship aid awarded in the academic year of 2015 – 2016. If you’re a creative arts major, then you may want to look into some of these schools.

Methodology

The Student Loan Report licensed this data from Peterson’s Financial Aid dataset. The dataset is released annually from Peterson, and this version covers the academic year of 2015 – 2016. All data in this report stems from this dataset; consequently, all of the data in this report is self-reported by the colleges like all the data featured in Peterson’s dataset.

The creative scholarship aid refers to the total amount of aid awarded to the student body of a given school; it does not represent an average per recipient or undergraduate. This scholarship aid is specific to the creative arts as awarded by third-parties, the schools themselves, and other organizations.

Public and private institutions were broken out separately and ranked according to total scholarship aid. Schools who awarded greater amounts of creative scholarship aid ranked closer to the top of the list.

Overall, the top 99 out of 99 public colleges who reported data made the list, and 150 out of over 400 private colleges who reported data made the list.
