The Scholarship Fund of Alexandra is offering the seniors of T.C. Williams High School the opportunity to receive free assistance in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA). The FAFSA Completion Workshop is being held at T.C. Williams High School located at 3330 King St., Alexandria on January 11th.

Students are invited to drop by any time between 5 and 8pm when confidential assistance is being offered by financial aid professionals. The event will include a free dinner and the chance to win prizes, such as a $1,000 scholarship or a 22” LG TV. Students who want to complete the FASFA while at the workshop should come prepared with documentation for themselves as well as their parents, including Social Security numbers, residency status, 2015 W-2 forms and federal tax returns, bank statements, and other income records.

The SFA recommends that every senior fill out the FASFA to qualify for financial aid from the federal and state governments. Students can fill out the FASFA for free and it takes less than 30 minutes. Following a recent change in the guidelines, families can use their 2015 tax information for the FASFA, so they don’t have to wait until they file their 2016 returns to apply. Although the deadline for FASFA is June 30, 2017, applicants should apply as soon as possible because financial aid is offered on a first come, first serve basis.
